Umbrellas and wellies were out in force last Saturday as the BFG community came together to participate in Party in the Park – an extravaganza of music, food, entertainment and fireworks.
The fun-filled event – held on Normandy Barracks and organised by Paderborn Station – was designed to bring together all Service personnel and families from across BFG.
The rainy weather did not dampen spirits as everyone enjoyed the various food and drinks stalls and even a cheeky ice cream.
Children were spoilt for choice with the various bouncy castles available. The dodgem cars got a ‘bumps up’ from adults and children alike as they had a merry time right into the evening.
The live band was a roaring success. Everyone let their hair down as guests got up and danced at the disco. The finale of the evening was a spectacular firework show, which wowed crowds with the dazzling colour and formation.
One event goer said: “I always love these kind of events. My husband is away at the moment so it’s nice to get out of the house to an event that my little girl and I can both enjoy. I am glad to see the weather didn’t stop people from coming.”
Another attendee said: “Wow! I just couldn’t believe how many things were available for children.
“Plus it was free. I went on the dodgems so many times. Thank you to everyone who organised it.”
Nobody allowed the rain to let this event become a washout. Everyone had a fantastic time and the effort and hard work of the organisers certainly paid off.
A massive thank you must be extended to the various personnel for their dedication and support in organising the day.
